Disclaimer for Respite Care Provider Application

To apply to become a respite care provider with The Arc of Butte County, you MUST have a client who already has services set up with Far Northern Regional Center (FNRC). Once you submit your application, please call our office at 530-891-5865 so we can confirm that your client has an authorization from FNRC.

Disclaimer for Fingerprinting Requirement

If you are hired by The Arc of Butte County, you will be required to complete fingerprinting. Fingerprinting is conducted every Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 PM at our office. Please ensure your client is active in our system. You must bring your Social Security Number (SSN), and the name on the SSN must match your ID. If you do not have your SSN, you must provide a letter from the Social Security Administration office.

Job Classification: Part-time or Full-time, hourly, non-exempt.

Summary: The Independent Living Skills (ILS) Instructor will work one-on-one with adults with developmental disabilities, helping them to live more independently. The ILS program provides diverse skills, training, and services that focus on an individual’s personal and social needs. Instructors maintain consistent contact with clients to assist in the further development of the skills they need to live independently as functioning members of their community. 


  • Reliable transportation, valid CA driver’s license, and vehicle insurance.
  • Background check, drug test, and TB test clearance.
  • Problem-solving skills, patience, and empathy.

Job Classification: Part-time or Full-time, hourly, non-exempt.

Summary: ADP Instructors work with adults with IDD in group settings and oversee various programs, classes, and activities for skill development and community engagement.


  • Conduct instructional sessions and activities.
  • Maintain contact with clients and support virtual sessions.
  • Enhance clients’ quality of life and foster community connections.


  • Valid CA driver’s license, reliable transportation, and vehicle insurance.

  • Problem-solving skills, patience, and compassion.

Job Classification: On-call, non-exempt.

Summary:  The respite care provider is primarily responsible for providing care, supervision, and companionship to children and adults with disabilities in the client’s own home. If needed, the Respite Care Provider also cares for the non-disabled siblings of the client.


  • Personal care assistance, meal preparation, and recreation activities.
  • Administer medication with written permission.
  • Confirm and complete documentation accurately and timely.
  • Attend required in-service and training meetings.

Work Hours: On-call basis, with a minimum of 10 hours monthly.


  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Legal eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Background check, drug test, and TB test clearance.
  • Accessible via phone.
  • Ability to follow directions and guidelines independently.
