WE ARE SO CLOSE! HELP US REACH OUR GOAL!
Thanks to an amazing community effort, The Arc of Butte County is ALMOST ready to begin construction on the All-Abilities Playground: a specially designed play area and structure dedicated to recreational inclusion for children with intellectual, developmental and physical disabilities.
Because we are SO CLOSE to our fundraising goal, our plans for construction are well on their way. Unfortunately, due to COVID related set-backs, we are facing delays on materials and labor, but are hoping to have this project completed by the end of Summer 2021.
Bookmark this page or follow us on social media for updates on this project. Please help in our continued efforts to collect donations for the All-Abilities Playground, or become a monthly donor to help The Arc prepare for upcoming projects and necessary disability services. By donating today, you are advocating for children and adults with Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and other intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).
A SPECIAL PROJECT FOR CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
The Arc of Butte County provides a variety of direct care services to over 1,400 families in Butte, Tehama and Glenn Counties. The children involved in our Family Support Programs and Weekend Respite (Rainbow of Kids Club) are offered a chance to engage in recreational play and to appropriately socialize outside of their typical family dynamic. This change in routine allows for children to experience the bonds of friendship and take part in safe and healthy physical activity.
One of our favored on-site tools offered to children in Arc programs is our All-Abilities Playground. Unfortunately, due to 20 years of wear and tear, sun damage and vandalism, the playground is no longer safe to use and has been closed.
THIS IS WHERE WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Construction is costly and with The Arc's plethora of services offered to children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, our funds are limited. Donors like you can make this playground a reality, and grant the simplest wish of so many special needs children in our community: to play like a normal kid.
Your one-time or monthly donation will help us install:
- A wheelchair accessible swing
- Protective ground covering (stable enough for wheel chair access, safe enough to prevent injury)
- Safety fences (to deter vandalism and increase security)
- Safe and sturdy play equipment (for our special needs children and their siblings)
Please watch our short video detailing the playground and its impact. And remember… No child should have to sit on the sidelines because they are different. No child should feel left out. Please donate today so that children of all abilities can play.
